Mount Samara, Sacred Valley from Cradle Series by Will Wight

[Iteration 0] Will Wight Books – Welcome to the Willverse

Information requested: combat solution against boredom. Beginning report…

Cradle Reference

Will Wight is one of my favorite authors, and for a good reason, His Cradle Series is immensely popular and was my first foray into the “Cultivation” sub-genre of fantasy books, which I’ve since read many others with a similar premise. Like Brandon Sanderson, all of Will’s books are in the same multiverse, known as “Iterations”, with slightly different rules regarding how magic works. This allows for a unique storyline with distinct magic systems, while still being a part of the same multiverse.

The Travelers Gate Trilogy

The Travelerโ€™s Gate Trilogy by Will Wight follows the journey of Simon, whose village is attacked by enemy Travelers, men and women who channel magical power from other territories. He watches helplessly as his loved ones are slaughtered, and his friends are captured. Despite lacking a prophecy, a sort of indicator of pre-ordained potential, Simon must get stronger to save those who remain.

The Elder Empire Series

Genre: High Fantasy

Iteration: Asylum

Summary assisted with AI since I have not yet read this book series – If there are any glaring mistakes, please let me know in the comments so that I may fix them ASAP! – Devon

The Elder Empire series by Will Wight is a parallel viewpoint trilogy, similar to how Ender’s Game and Ender’s Shadow by Orson Scott Card was written.

The First Trilogy, Sea, focuses on the story of Captain Calder Marten of The Testament from his perspective. Calder is a man driven by tales of fortune during the turbulent times borne by the death of the Emperor. His goal: The Legendary Heart of Nakothi, which could lead him to fortune and even potentially, the path to becoming Emperor himself.

The second Trilogy of The Elder Empire Series is Shadow, which follows the story of Shera, who sees that same artifact as a cursed tool. Due to its power, it is imperative that the artifact stays hidden to prevent those with nefarious intentions from misusing the artifact (AKA, Calder).

Cradle Series

Genre: Cultivation Fantasy

Iteration: Cradle

The Cradle Series by Will Wight is a tale of cultivation and growth. It follows the Story of Wei Shi Lindon, a boy born with a cursed defect that hampers the development of his core. Due to limited resources, his clan shuns him and tries to prevent him from taking resources to try and overcome his stunted core.

Lindon fights against this, doing everything he can to try and solve his problem, which results in his unearthing of a cultivation manual designed to split his core into two. Little does he know, but that manual sets the foundation for his eventual rise to power, becoming strong enough to defeat Monarchs and Dreadgods – beings of immense power.

This series is not afraid of killing off characters – so be prepared to lose someone in the story at any point in its twelve books.

The Last Horizon Series

Genre: Space Opera Fantasy

Iteration: Fathom

Will Wight‘s most recent book series (As of writing this article) is The Last Horizon series. Set in a magic meets technology world, following the exploits of one Varic Vallenar, The Last Horizon is filled with action scenes and is a fun read. I’m personally a big biiig fan of The Pilot, which I won’t spoil who that ends up being.
