Get lost in this galactic war against the Iron Legion, a hive-mind legion of cybernetic monstrosities. Follow Varic Vallenar in his journey to defeat this threat.

Description

On a little-known planet with a powerful aetheric event, Archmage Varic Vallenar casts a grand spell to overcome the limits of the universe: to empower himself with mastery of multiple forms of magic. Only, Varic bites off more than he can chew, as the ritual works too well, granting him not only the mastery he sought but also the memories from five parallel lives. These memories span the entire lifetime of his parallel selves, from birth until death, and all of them had gruesome ends from one galactic threat or another.

Now possessing power greater than any wizard in galactic history, Varic faces those apocalyptic threats beyond imagination: sun-eating extra-dimensional insects, shadowy secret organizations, genetically enhanced alien super-soldiers, ruthless megacorporations, and hordes of cyborg undead.

Hopeless, Varic hears rumors of a mythical Zenith Device starship called The Last Horizon, a vessel of immense capability far beyond what standard starships can do. He seeks out this device, convinced it is the only thing that is capable of overcoming these threats.

  1. The Trail of Tales

While this book was great, it wasn’t exactly what I was expecting going in. I’m very much a fan of progression fantasy, but this book lacked that. After all, the powerful main character went from being a very strong archmage to becoming the strongest archmage in galactic history in the first few pages of the book.

As a result, this story lost one star, but it was still a great read, I’m just picky about how the protagonist gains power.
